As museums continue to embrace technological improvements, we are continually finding ourselves open to a plethora of opportunities on a remarkable scale. Such technological innovations, such as sophisticated collections management systems, digital imaging, content management systems, web sites and other features have taken their foundations in cultural institutions of varying sizes and specialties whether on a local, regional or national level. Once upon a time, the challenge was focused into addressing, incorporating and mastering new technological products. Today we endeavour to seek cost effective technological programs and sustainable digital initiatives that go the distance and interfuse into the institution’s mission statements, collection management policies, public program activities, and operations.
The conference explored an array of emerging contemporary issues related to collection and integrated information management, digital identity and preservation, program planning, funding models, web based projects, audience delivery and more.
The conference comprised papers, case studies, panel discussions and a forum of ideas around the conference theme. In addition, some of the world’s leading vendors in collection management systems were available at the trade fair, offering consultations and demonstrations to delegates.
